1983 Chevrolet Camaro
The Sport Coupe and Berlinetta model saw virtually no changes in 1983. The Z28 however received a much-needed engine transplant. The short-lived (it was introduced in 1982) LU5 “Cross Fire Injection” 305 cubic-inch (5.0 L) V8 making a paltry 165 hp was replaced with the 190 hp L69 305 cubin-inch (5.0 L) V8. Only 3223 L69s were shipped in 1983, but the engine provided a sorely-needed boost to compete with the Ford Mustang GT.
