1969 Chevrolet Camaro
While still falling into the first-generation, the exterior changed significantly for 1969 (akin to what would be today considered a mid-model refresh). Only the hood and trunk lid remained the same from 1968. More creases and angularity in the sheet metal created a sportier look. Surprisingly, this change only lasted one year, as the first-generation Camaro platform would give way to the second-generation platform in 1970. The Z28 option became increasingly popular. Chevrolet produced 2 very special engines for the 1969 Camaro via COPO (Central Office Production Orders). These 2 options were numbered 9560 and 9561, although they are known more popularly as L72 and ZL-1. The L72 was a favorite of dealer Don Yenko, who turned the models he ordered in the legendary Yenko Camaro. Chevrolet increased production yet again in 1969, selling 243,085 Camaros of which 20,302 were Z28s.
